It costs more to fill up your gas tank in the Southern Interior than most of the rest of Canada and a trip to the pumps in the Okanagan is especially painful.
Pump prices jumped more than ten per cent in most Okanagan cities this week, and within days almost all local gas stations were charging $1.47 for a litre of regular gas. While the price is on the rise in Kamloops, you can still find a litre of regular for under $1.40.
According to GasBuddy.com, the average price increased across Canada, but at $1.33 a litre, that price is a distant memory for drivers in the Southern Interior.
Penticton is around $1.40, while Vernon now sits at $1.46.
Vancouver and Victoria drivers are paying the most in B.C. at $1.55, but practically everywhere else gas costs considerably less.
You can still get a litre of regular for less than $1.40 in Cranbrook and Williams Lake, and it’s only slightly more in Comox and Nanaimo.
Prince George offers the cheapest gas in the province at $1.19 per litre.
Elsewhere in the country, Regina charges around $1.21, Edmonton and Winnipeg $1.31, Ottawa $1.35, Montreal $1.43 and Toronto $1.39.
