Drivers should take extra caution today.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Highway 3 Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
Total amounts of about 15 cm of snow is expected.
A vigorous front crossing southern B.C. today is expected to spread heavy snow to Kootenay pass.
Snow should begin later this morning and ease off tonight.
Further amounts of 5 to 15 cm are forecast to accumulate by Sunday Morning.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
