SUN PEAKS - A popular music festival that has found its place in Sun Peaks for a second year in a row has helped double the amount of people that would usually be in the resort town this time of year.

Sun Peaks Resort spokesperson Aidan Kelly says the festival held last weekend brought roughly 4,000 people to the hill. This is the second year the multi-day concert festival has taken place at the B.C ski resort.

“From what I saw, (attendance) was pretty close to last year,” Kelly says. “Numbers were very comparable from speaking to others."

Kelly says the concert is good publicity for the resort especially around April, adding that around this time of year is when numbers at the resort tend to decrease.

“We get to this point in the year and the numbers definitely drop off,” Kelly says. “The festival doubled the amount of traffic coming in it normally would have.”

He says he hopes the festival will continue next year. Some of the big names at this year's show included Odeza, Daniel Caesar, Big Wild and many more.

“Everyone had a lot of fun, it was pretty rowdy week compared to what Sun Peaks is used to,” says Kelly. “We hope it gets to continue to the future.”
