KELOWNA - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on Wednesday night in Kelowna.

It was a fast start as Everett opened the scoring 5:30 into the first frame. Just 11 seconds later Dillon Dube tied the game on a wrister that beat Tips netminder Carter Hart over the shoulder. Under four minutes later Aaron Irving pulled the Silvertips ahead once again. The Rockets made a late period push but the score remained 2-1 headed into the second period.

8:38 into the middle frame Dominic Zwerger scored the only goal of the period and Everett took a two goal lead into the final stanza.

Everett scored a late empty net goal to seal the deal. 4-1 Silvertips final.

Michael Herringer falls to 31-15-5-0 on the season stopping 25 of the 28 shots he faced.

The Rockets record drops to 43-22-5-0 on the year.

The Rockets are back in action on Friday night, St. Patrick’s Day, to host the Vancouver Giants in the final regular season home game for Kelowna. It’s Jersey off the Back night so if you’ve entered in the draw this season you’ll have a chance at taking home a special edition Rockets jersey. There’s also a puck toss courtesy of BRP and Banner Recreation and Marine. The toss involves the first 6000 fans in the building getting a free puck to toss for the chance to win a 2016 Can-Am Outlander 450L DPS valued at over $7599. That game is being broadcast on Sportsnet so there will be a 7:35pm puck drop.

Tickets are available for Rockets home games through selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
