Shuswap farmstand tour connects consumers to local growers
Shuswap Tourism has launched a unique culinary experience so locals and visitors alike can discovery local food.
The Shuswap Farmstand Tour is a self-guided tour to local farms in the Falkland, Salmon River and Yankee Flats area with eight different stops along the way, each offering diverse foods and artisanal products for purchase, according to a regional district media release.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Shuswap Farmstand Tour, which celebrates our region's agricultural heritage and offers a direct connection between consumers and local growers," organizer of the tour and manager of Shuswap Tourism Morgen Matheson said in the release.
This tour gives visitors a chance to discover what each farm has to offer, whether it be produce, meats, eggs, flowers or baked goods while learning about the production of each resource.
The tour bridges the gap between farmers and consumers in an interactive fashion.
Visitors have the opportunity to discover local produce and goods from family-owned farmstands at their own pace, allowing each individual to browse as long as they would like.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for everyone to support local businesses while enjoying the freshest produce our region has to offer," Matheson said.
