KELOWNA - Reports of a man walking into a downtown Kelowna apartment building with a shotgun brought police out in full force yesterday afternoon.
Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Const. Lesley Smith said in a press release today, Jan. 31, that the emergency response team and regular members swarmed the area around 1441 Sutherland Avenue at approximately 4:15 p.m. yesterday.
"RCMP were investigating a weapons complaint which lead officers to one of the units inside the apartment building," Smith said in the release. “Two occupants located in the unit were safely taken into police custody."
Smith said police took a man and woman into custody from the apartment and found a shotgun but are still waiting for a warrant to search the residence.
Both suspects remain in custody, Smith said, and are facing possible charges.
