A 45-year-old woman had her car impounded and her driver's license suspended yesterday after a member of the public told the Vernon RCMP about a possible impaired driver.

Police were tipped off by the member of the public on Tuesday, Dec. 6, according to an RCMP press release. The driver was said to be leaving Vernon northbound on Highway 97.

An officer responded and began patrolling near Enderby in search of the vehicle. The officer located the vehicle and pulled it over on Highway 97A near Back Enderby Road.

The officer spoke with the driver and suspected she was impaired by alcohol. She was taken to the cop shop and provided two breath samples that both exceeded the legal limit, RCMP said.

The woman was charged with driving while uninsured and having open liquor in the vehicle. She was also issued a 90-day driving ban and her vehicle will be in the impound for 30 days.

She was released from custody and is due in court at a later date.

RCMP thanked the public for continuing to report dangerous or suspected impaired drivers.
