The weather could get nasty across the Southern Interior today.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the South Okanagan and the South Thompson today, June 15.

Forecasters say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain, strong wind gusts and intense lightning.

Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads, the watch states.

A severe thunderstorm watch has also been issued for the Nicola, including Merritt, and the Similkameen.
