A severe thunderstorm warning issued for the Nicola region, including the Coquihalla Highway has ended.

Environment Canada says the severe thunderstorms have weakened or moved out of the region.

The weather office issued the warning earlier this afternoon, May 29, for the Nicola region as it tracked a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, along with nickel sized hail and heavy rain.

The line of storms was 10 kilometres east of the Coquihalla Highway between the Coquihalla Summit and Larson Hill, and was moving west at 40 km/h.

Continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada here.
