VERNON - In the event that the current teacher job action is unresolved before the scheduled September start date for Vernon schools, Greater Vernon Recreation Services is continuing to offer many of its summer camp options, and expanding them to include experiential, educational and/or physical activity components.
In addition to its current programming, Greater Vernon Recreation Services are also partnering with the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre to provide several great programs for children in grades 1 through 5.
At the Kingfisher camp, for example, the kids can enjoy a day of outdoor play and experiential environmental education.
They will have an opportunity to explore and learn about an interior cedar hemlock rainforest: the plants that grow there, local First Nation traditional ways of life and knowledge, and about the salmon that call the Shuswap River home.
The camps will run Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3 pm, and transportation will be provided to and from activities. Parents can register for as many or as few days as they like.
For more information on these or any other programs, please contact Greater Vernon Recreation Services at 250-545-6035 or visit www.greatervernonrecreation.ca.
