Seniors societies go better together

KAMLOOPS - Two non-profit agencies geared at improving the lives of seniors are hoping to amalgamate by the end of September.

River City Seniors Association and the Seniors Outreach Society are looking to join forces.

"We have more resources as two joint societies than we do as two independent," said RiverBend Manor general manager, Cindy Linton.

River City Seniors is focussed on providing housing for low-income seniors, which is right up the alley with the Seniors Outreach Society, aimed at providing programs and services to seniors as well as promoting participation in community life. Linton said in smaller communities, services are commonly duplicated, and that an amalgamation will allow them to dovetail what each other contributes to Kamloops seniors.

"It's just builds on what each of us does," she said.

A consent notice has been issued for legal purposes to those who deal with the societies.
