Second Annual Emergency Services Day and Bike Rodeo

For the second year in a row, emergency services in Kamloops are joining forces for Emergency Services Day.

This free event takes place on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm, and combines Emergency Preparedness Week with National Police Week to provide the opportunity for residents to learn how to be better prepared for emergency events. Residents will also learn about the emergency services teams and services in Kamloops.

Emergency Services Day will feature a variety of emergency services partners such as Kamloops Fire Rescue, local RCMP, and BC Ambulance Service. Over two dozen partner organizations will be on site, including CN and CP Police, Fortis BC, the Air 4 RCMP Helicopter, Kamloops Search and Rescue, and the Kamloops Emergency Support Services team, just to name a few.

For the second year in a row, the Bike Rodeo will be part of the event. Kids are welcome to bring their bikes and helmets and put their cycling smarts to the test! The RCMP Bike Patrol will teach kids how to do pre-ride checks. They’ll also review road rules, hand signals, and helmet safety. Kids will have a chance to ride their bikes through the Bike Rodeo stations and win prizes.

The Bike Rodeo is free and registration is mandatory. To register, call 250-828-3500 with registration no. 273232 or visit www.kamloops.ca/ezreg. Both events will take place in the north parking lot of Aberdeen Mall.

A special thanks to Aberdeen Mall and Kamloops volunteers for their support.
