Salmon Arm RCMP appeal for tips in shooting incident

SALMON ARM - Police in Salmon Arm are investigating a shooting incident that took place over the weekend.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, Salmon Arm RCMP were dispatched to the area of 16 Street SE, Auto Road SE, and 11 Avenue SE, Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a media release.

A number of people called police to say they heard gunshots in the area, Moskaluk says.

“RCMP officers attended to the area and determined that there had been a firearm discharged in the direction of a parked vehicle, a nearby garage and fence,” Moskaluk says.

The location of the incident was a property in the 1700 block of 11 Avenue SE.

“Witnesses reported hearing a vehicle speeding away after the shots were heard,” Moskaluk says.

Investigators believe this was a targeted event and have spoken to all the tenants of the building and confirmed no one was injured, he says.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
