SALMON ARM - Police are recommending several charges against a man and woman caught in a stolen vehicle in Salmon Arm earlier this month.

RCMP say they received a report of a suspicious vehicle back on Sept. 2.

The responding officer found a man and woman in the vehicle in the 4000 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road along Shuwap Lake east of Tappen. After running checks, police discovered the vehicle had been stolen in Logan Lake on Aug. 30, Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a media release.

Both suspects were taken into custody.

West says the vehicle search yielded a stolen TV, other stolen property and what he calls a "substantial quantity" of marijuana.

The suspects had given false names to the police. When police discovered their true identities, police found they had "extensive police involvement" and were most recently from Kamloops and Savona, he says.

RCMP are recommending the pair be charged with property offences, failing to comply with court ordered conditions and obstructing the police by giving false names.

The two are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 27 in Salmon Arm.
