VERNON - The Kalamalka Rotary Dream Auction raked in a record amount of funds from 460 guests this weekend.

Auction guests raised nearly $255,000, according to a media release from the Kalamalka Rotary Club.

The 32nd annual Dream Auction was held at the Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre on Saturday, Nov. 19.

"This event would not be possible without the generous contributions from Greater Vernon businesses, and others farther afield, who year after year demonstrate their support,” Sarah Pruckl, event chairperson says in the release.

“We also want to thank our guests who bid on these items the night of the auction to help us raise money.”

According to the release, the Dream Auction has raised over $3 million in funding over the past 31 years.

The event featured a live showcase charity that focused on raising money for the Okanagan Rail Trail. The auction brought in $88,000 for the rail trail and was supplemented by a $50,000 pledge from Kalamalka Rotary. Donors are matching a total of $138,000. The total amount raised at the Dream Auction for the rail trail is $276,000.
