Rollover on the Okanagan Connector kills man from Lower Mainland

WEST KELOWNA - Police are looking for witnesses to a rollover on the Okanagan Connector that claimed the life of a man from the Lower Mainland early Saturday morning.

A 63-year-old man from White Rock was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle rollover near the Pennask Summit, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a press release.

O’Donaghey says the man was eastbound on Highway 97C driving a grey Toyota 4-Runner when he apparently lost control and rolled the vehicle onto its roof. B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics were already there when police arrived.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are waiting for the results of their investigation of the scene, which was conducted by a police collision reconstructionist, he adds.

Early findings suggest icy road conditions may have contributed to the fatal crash.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident and who has not already spoken to police to call the West Kelowna RCMP detachment at 250-768-2880.
