Rockets sweep Cougars

KELOWNA – The Okanagan Rockets made it 11 straight victories at home with a weekend sweep of the Cariboo Cougars.

Beginning with Saturday’s match-up Captain Branden Wagner added a pair of goals in the Rockets 5 – 2 victory over the Cougars.

Also scoring for the Rockets was Brett Young, Cory Santoro and Carter Hikichi.

Reid Kilburn would stop 27 of 29 shots on goal.  He will continue to take the lead in net as goaltender Brenden Barry underwent an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday.  He’s expected to be out for at least three weeks.

During Sunday’s game, the Rockets cruised to a 6 – 4 victory over their Interior Rivals the Cariboo Cougars.
Linden Hora led the way for the Rockets, scoring two goals in the team’s 15th win of the season.

The Rockets welcomed back the BCMML’s leading scoring Tyson Jost who served a one game suspension on Saturday.  He delivered a nifty power play goal in the first period.

Also adding goals for the Rockets was Mahlon Head, Mark Krabben and Brett Young.

Reid Kilburn stopped 18 of 22 shots for his 9th win of the year and the Rockets improved their home ice record to a perfect 11 – 0 – 0 on the season.

The Okanagan Rockets now hold a 2 point lead over the Vancouver in the race for top spot in the BCMML standings.

Up next is a road trip to Coquitlam as the Okanagan Rockets take on the NE Chiefs.
