Rockets roll over Blazers 8-2

KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 8-2 in the Sandman Centre in Kamloops on Friday night.

The Blazers opened the scoring 1:28 into the first frame, but the rest was all Rockets. Rodney Southam got the Rockets on the board first. Then Tomas Soustal scored on a breakaway nine minutes after. Then Nick Merkley scored to put the Rockets up 3-1 to end the first.

Lucas Johansen scored on a point shot early in the second period. Kole Lind scored his 28th of the season on the power play. Then Dillon Dube made it 6-1 Rockets through 40.

Reid Gardiner made it 7-1 before Carsen Twarynski scored to post the eighth and final Kelowna goal of the night.
Luke Smith scored the final tally of the game for the Blazers as this one finished 8-2 Rockets final. Kelowna collects their first win in the Sandman Centre of this season in the two teams' final meeting of the regular season.

Kole Lind led the Rockets with one goal and three assists on the evening to put his point total to 77 on the campaign.

Michael Herringer improves to 26-13-3-0 on the season stopping 23 of 25 shots faced as Kelowna outshot the Blazers 41-25.

The Rockets advance to 36-20-5-0 on the year placing them three points back of Kamloops for second in the B.C. division.

The Rockets are back in action tomorrow night when they visit the Seattle Thunderbirds before facing the Spokane Chiefs in Spokane on Sunday.

Kelowna is back home again on Wednesday March 1st when they host the Prince George Cougars.
