KAMLOOPS - The Kelowna Rockets and the Kamloops Blazers open the WHL season this weekend with a home-and-home series.

The longstanding rivals begin the season tonight, Sept. 23, in Kamloops at the Sandman Centre.

Kelowna will host the Blazers in the Rockets' home opener tomorrow night at Prospera Place.

Last season, the Rockets knocked the Blazers out of the playoffs in game seven of their series. That was the final victorious best-of-seven series for the Rockets who were eliminated by the Seattle Thunderbirds.

This season's schedule is good news for WHL fans with 70 per cent of games played on weekends, holidays and over the Christmas break.
