VERNON - If you're ever left wanting more after your favourite band leaves the stage, a Vernon pub's fundraiser is sure to please.

The Longhorn Pub is holding Rock for Care, featuring 12 bands playing over 12 hours April 28. The fundraiser for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is now in its 10th year and was the brainchild of musician and promoter Rick Zipp and the pub's former owners.

"It's an excellent cause to raise money for the hospital," Zipp said. "It's good for people to get out and support."

And musically, Zipp said people won't be disappointed. "There's something for everyone," he said. From rock and blues to folk and funk, Zipp said the 12 bands that will take to the stage are set to please the crowd.

The event takes place April 28 with the first band coming on stage at noon. Bands get to play for 45 minutes, followed by a quick 15-minute turnaround before the next band hits the stage.

Starting the day off is Mya and Sol, followed by Mel and the Men before Zipp's own band 54 Young take the stage. The afternoon continues with Typical Underground, the Noble Crew, and Five Knuckle Shuffle before Zipp takes to the stage again to play guitar in The Wheely Nawties. As the day turns to the evening the bands continue with Billy and the Haze, Steel Toad, The Keys and the Kokane Cowboys, with Flash taking the stage and being the 12th band to play in 12 hours.

Along with the bands, there will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Admission is by donation. Go here for more information.
