The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and the City of Penticton in partnership with RBC Blue Water Project is sponsoring an eye-opening, thought provoking, educational talk on the current and future issues surrounding water – globally and in the Okanagan. This event is free of charge.

Robert Sandford, the featured speaker at this event, is Canada’s representative on the United Nations “Water For Life Decade”, Chair of EPCOR (Edmonton’s Power and Water Utility), and renowned author on water and climate.

He brings a wide range of experience to this public event, to be held November 28th at the Cleland Theatre in Penticton. Doors open at 6:30, talks begin at 7 p.m.

This is a rare opportunity to hear, ask questions to, and meet this world-renowned water expert and advisor.

Robert’s clear delivery style helps people to understand the quickly changing patterns in water and weather. He demystifies the ‘new normal’ of destabilized jet streams and related severe climactic events happening worldwide. He will drill down to provide illuminating insight at our local level; what we can do to become more resilient and less vulnerable.

To set the stage for Mr. Sandford, local author and Wetland’s Coordinator for the Okanagan Basin Water Board, Don Gayton will provide a short segue for his friend and colleague. Don’s brief presentation, “A snapshot of the Okanagan from historical to present day conditions” will provide the audience a regional perspective and context to this complex issue.

Dr. Anna Warwick Sears, Executive Director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board, will introduce Sandford and be available for questions throughout the evening.
“Climate Change and Adaptation” is a controversial subject at best. Rather than debate that issue, these speakers will use science-based data and documented conditions to provide insight into how we should be thinking about water and actions to take now and in the future.
