Robbers target Vernon business twice

RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk

VERNON - A Vernon business has once again been broken into.

Crooks busted into Shoppers Drug Mart on 31 Avenue last October, and again over the long weekend. Both times the shop’s front display window was smashed and used to access the store.

This time, thieves broke in around 5 a.m. Monday and made off with PlayStation 3 controllers and various other electronics from behind the till.

“It appears two men were involved in this break and enter however at this point they do not have descriptions of them to release to the public,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.

Several tools suspected to have been used in the break and enter were discovered outside the store. The repeated break-ins at Shoppers Drug Mart may be random, but Molendyk suspects the large display window might be attracting thieves.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the break-in or saw two men in the area to call them at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
