Road worker assaulted on Red Bridge in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP are looking for information on two suspects involved in an assault on the Red Bridge early Monday morning.

A "dirty" SUV was travelling fast southbound on the bridge where a maintenance worker was repairing potholes, according to an RCMP media release. Two men emerged from the vehicle and had a verbal exchange with the worker, then one of the suspects tried to take the worker's shovel. The ensuing struggle led to the worker being punched and knocked out.

The two men then drove off towards Lorne Street. Paramedics later took the worker to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident took place, Jan. 11, at around 3 a.m.

The two suspects are described as either South Asian or Indigenous men, around 6' tall, and one was wearing all black while the other was wearing a white tracksuit.

Their vehicle is a "dirty", possibly beige, late-90s to early-2000s model SUV with an 'N' on the lower right corner of the back bumper.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 referencing file number 2021-1122.
