Risk of thunderstorm in Kamloops today; mix of cloud and sun remainder of week

Sunny skies over Kamloops could give way to a thunderstorm this afternoon, April 29, 2019. The rest of the week will see clouds and sun with the possiblity of showers Wednesday and Saturday night.

KAMLOOPS - The possibility of rain in Kamloops today is expected to give way to clouds and sun for the remainder of the week.

Kamloops is approaching the end of April under close to normal conditions for this time of year, with daily highs and lows close to the normals for this time of year.

The rest of the country hasn’t been quite so fortunate, with parts of Alberta receiving up to 30 centimetres of snow on the weekend in a storm the Weather Network says "brought four seasons of weather to the province.”

Further east, Ontario is expecting rounds of rain and what Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gilham refers to as “inappropriate” spring snow today and tonight.

Environment Canada says Kamloops can expect sun this morning, April 29, followed by a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of showers this afternoon, along with a risk of a thunderstorm.

Winds are expected to become west at 20 km/h this afternoon with a high of 15 C and an overnight low of 1 C with patchy frost.

Tomorrow is expected to be mainly sunny with a high of 16 C and an overnight low of 5 C.

A mostly cloudy day is anticipated Wednesday, with a high of 12 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight. An overnight low of 6 C is expected.

The forecast for Thursday through Sunday is for a sun and cloud mix each day, with a forecast high of 17 C on Thursday, 19 C on Friday and 18 C for Saturday and Sunday.
