Police in Richmond, B.C., say latest homicide victim is known to them

RICHMOND, B.C. - A man has been found dead in Richmond, B.C., and homicide investigators have taken over the case.

A news release from Richmond RCMP says the body was found around midday, Thursday, near the Fraser River in south Richmond.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Cpl. Frank Jang says the victim is well known to police.

He says the slaying does not appear gang related, but has offered few other details.

An autopsy is expected in the next few days.

Jang says the identity of the Richmond man won't be released until family members are notified. (The Canadian Press, News1130)
