Farella, Landry lead Canadian women over France at Sydney Sevens

SYDNEY, Australia - Bianca Farella scored a last-minute try and Ghislaine Landry followed with a conversion as the Canadian women came from behind and beat France 19-17 on Sunday to finish fifth at the Sydney Sevens.

Farella scored her first try of the match in the seventh minute while Landry had a ninth-minute try and two conversions.

Meanwhile, the Canadian men were topped in the Challenge Trophy semifinal by Argentina 24-19.

They earned a 25-17 win over Scotland earlier in the day to set up their meeting with Argentina.

The Canadian women opened the season with a third-place finish in Glendale before finishing runner-up to New Zealand in Dubai to enter Sydney ranked No. 2.

The Canadian women were third in Sydney last season and won it all the season before.

The Canadian men entered Sydney No. 11 in the standings.
