Report of drunk driver in West Kelowna yields brass knuckles

WEST KELOWNA - A 20-year-old Kelowna man spent the night in jail after he broke his release conditions and was found with a set of brass knuckles.

RCMP received a report of a possibly impaired driver near Gellatly Road and Highway 97 on Feb. 9 at 11:40 p.m, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says a media release. When police arrived, they spotted the suspect vehicle, a black Mitsubishi.

O’Donaghey says an officer stopped the car and had the driver perform sobriety tests. The driver allegedly blew a sample in the warning range.

The driver had release conditions related to alcohol consumption, according to O’Donaghey, so was taken into custody without incident.

Later police found brass knuckles, which are a prohibited weapon, in his possession.

The man was scheduled to appear in court today, Feb. 10.
