The most common medical conditions for which Canada's veterans claim support

The following is a list of the most common medical conditions for which veterans are receiving federal benefits or support:

All veterans

1. Hearing loss

2. Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)

3. Post-traumatic stress disorder

4. Lumbar disc disease

5. Osteoarthritis knee

6. Internal derangement knee

7. Cervical disc disease

8. Depressive disorders

9. Osteoarthritis lumbar spine

10. Osteoarthritis hip

Afghanistan veterans

1. Post-traumatic stress disorder

2. Tinnitus

3. Hearing loss

4. Depressive disorders

5. Erectile dysfunction

6. Lumbar disc disease

7. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

8. Adjustment disorder

9. Anxiety disorders

10. Chronic mechanical low back pain

The following is the approval rate for the most common medical conditions submitted by veterans in 2019-20. In order to be approved, veterans must be diagnosed with a condition and then prove that it is related to their military service:

1. Tinnitus — 85 per cent

2. Hearing loss — 57 per cent

3. PTSD — 97 per cent

4. Arthrosis of knee — 84 per cent

5. Osteoarthritis knee — 84 per cent

6. Depressive disorders — 95 per cent

7. Lumbar disc disease — 89 per cent

8. Osteoarthritis hip — 81 per cent

9. Cervical disc disease — 79 per cent

10. Osteoarthritis shoulder joint — 74 per cent
