Kelowna, BC: It’s a new year for artists too! Start 2017 off with a commitment to your creativity – registration is now underway for winter art class offerings for adults and youth at the Kelowna Art Gallery.

Don’t miss your chance to take part in these high-quality, professionally instructed classes that run from January through April of 2017. Those registering before January 8, 2017 will receive a 10% discount on fees.

You can sign up for painting in acrylics or watercolours, drawing, working with mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, or even a class that will lead participants through the process of creating their own website so that they will be able to market and sell their art online. Local professional artists Kendra Dixson, Jim Elwood, Kyle L. Poirier, Liz Ranney, April Snowe, and Rena Warren will join us to lead the classes.

Most classes run for six weeks, and cater both to absolute beginners, as well as those of intermediate skill level. Beginners will learn the basic principles of their preferred medium, while also discussing, exploring, and expressing themselves through visual art. More advanced students will build on their existing skills through creative exercises to develop their abilities. Participants in all classes will complete and take home a number of works of art. Instruction by the Gallery’s art teachers is supportive, motivating, and inspiring.

The cost for each six-week-long series of classes is $160.00 for the general public, and $130.00 for members of the Kelowna Art Gallery. A new discounted rate of $100.00 has been introduced for full-time students.

The Gallery will also be hosting a number of special weekend workshops that offer participants the opportunity to dive headlong into working with a specific medium of their choice including watercolours, acrylic, drawing, printmaking, mixed-media, and sculpture. The cost for these workshops is $105.00 for the general public, $90.00 for members, and $80.00 for full-time students.

Gift certificates for art classes are now available from the Gallery and are a wonderful holiday gift-giving idea. A full listing and description of available classes can be found on the Gallery’s website at www.kelownaartgallery.com.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in the heart of the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna. For hours of operation, more information about programs available, or current exhibitions, visit the Kelowna Art Gallery online at www.kelownaartgallery.com.
