Regional district waiving fees for waste caused by flood

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS - Residents in the Thompson Nicola Regional District trying to get rid of waste caused by flooding have one less thing to worry about.

Tipping fees are being waived at the district's landfills until June 11 for residents of the region, but only for waste material caused by the flooding. When disposing of the material residents will have to sign a declaration and notify a site attendant.

All landfills in the regional district are dropping the fee. Only two landfills, Heffley Creek and Lower Nicola, take materials like rocks, clean soil, sand and gravel. All other rules and regulations for the landfills remain in place.
