The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen board of directors approved the 2019 budget at a recent board meeting.

PENTICTON - Regional District taxes are going up, and that includes Penticton residents' share.
The City of Penticton's share of the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen operating budget is $2,113,285, up 9.05 per cent over last year’s $1.937,961 for a difference of $175,324, according to budget information supplied on the regional district website.
Average taxes will cost the average residential property owner an additional $8.73, up from $88.78 last year to $97.51 in 2019.
The city’s biggest budget increases were for the following items:

911 emergency call system (up $13,618)

emergency planning (up $31,675)

general government (up $87,110)
-
regional transit (up $20,526)
-
solid waste management plan (up 12,913)
The total regional district budget for 2019 is $19,080,929, up $1,502,733, or 8.55 per cent over last year.
