Record sales reported in 2019 for B.C. wineries

B.C. is reporting a record number of sales last year for the province's food and beverage processors.

In 2019, sales were up $700 million to a record $10.5 billion., according to a Ministry of Agriculture news release.

Areas of growth included a $137-million increase in winery sales, a $300-million increase in meat and poultry sales, along with a $295-million increase in dairy sales.

"Our food and beverage processors here in B.C. have been at the forefront of innovation during the pandemic, adapting their businesses to suit both their needs and consumers. The record sales in 2019 set the foundation for a strong economic recovery," Agriculture minister Lana Popham said in the release.

Last year, a new B.C. record was also set with export sales of $4.7 billion of agricultural, seafood and food and beverage products to 152 different international markets, the ministry said.
