Cowgirl dancers and a 2011 CMA Rising Star of the Year was what the motionball “Country Gold” Official After-Party brought to a crowd of nearly 200 people in Kelowna Saturday night.

The Old Mission Barn was the setting to Kelowna’s second annual motionball Official After-Party, raising funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Sponsored by the Okanagan Young Professionals (OYP) Collective, the event reached out to the younger generation with many of Kelowna’s young professionals in attendance.

Guests enjoyed a live acoustic performance by Kelowna hometown Country Star, Chad Brownlee, and entertainment from Luki Dance Productions.

Earlier in the day, teams of ten – each joined by a Special Olympic athlete – competed against one another in a full day of sports at the Kelowna Marathon of Sport held at Spring Valley Middle School. motionball's mandate is to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events.

"It's amazing what happens out there on the field," commented Michael Blondé, Event Director motionball Kelowna. "Yes the money is important and very much needed, but more so, Marathon of Sport is about the Special Olympics Canada Athletes integrating with participants, donors and volunteers.”

The 2013 Kelowna motionball Marathon of Sport beat their target and raised over $40,000 for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

“We are blown away by motionball’s success in Kelowna in year-two, and are excited to grow this in the years to come."
