CHASE – Chase RCMP are looking into a very Canadian crime; three men in a fight involving a hockey stick and a skate at a rink in nearby Celista.

RCMP say at around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, officers were called to a report of people fighting at a skating rink at Farrells Field Community Park in Celista.

There was a dispute between two groups which resulted in an altercation between the three men, according to an RCMP media release. One man was struck in the face with a skate, while another man was hit with a hockey stick.

RCMP are worried about vigilantes taking the law into their own hands following comments made on social media.

"Police would like to caution against any vigilante action taken in regards to this investigation, or any other incident," Cpl. Scott Linklater says in the release. "Doing so hinders police investigations and will result in criminal charges against those committing further criminal acts."

The men involved in the fight, and witnesses, are cooperating with the investigation. Police are reviewing the evidence and consulting Crown counsel to determine if charges will be laid.
