RCMP search for North Okanagan break and enter suspect

Vernon police officers are searching for a suspect seen on a surveillance camera allegedly breaking into an outbuilding in a rural area of Spallumcheen.

On Aug. 31, at roughly 2 p.m. the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, received a complaint that a man had broken into the building of a rural property in the in the 4200 block of Hullcar Road in Spallumcheen, according to an RCMP media release.

"The complainant advised a man could be seen on video surveillance walking around the property, looking in windows and gained entry to an outbuilding," the release reads. "Frontline officers responded, viewed the video surveillance and obtained a description of the suspect. Given the large rural area, investigators requested the Police Dog Service unit to attend in order to establish a track for the individual."

Officers then located a stolen dirt bike from a different property in the bushes.

Additional police resources were dispatched to establish a perimeter to locate the man, but he was not found, RCMP said.
