KELOWNA - A West Kelowna man is wanted in connection to an alleged assault carried out early yesterday morning in Kelowna.

Kelowna RCMP were called July 8 at 12:30 a.m., to the 1700-block of Chapman Place for a report of an assault. At the scene Mounties found a victim who suffered what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The suspect, who was well known to the victim, fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival, Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said in a press release.

West Kelowna resident Joel McKinnon Perks, 32, has now been formally charged criminally in relation to the altercation and is wanted on arrest warrants for assault and breach of his conditions.

Perks is described as a Caucasian male, with tattoos on both arms. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs approximately 200 lbs, and has brown hair and blue eyes.

“RCMP warn the general public not to approach Joel Perks, if spotted call 911 immediately,”  O’Donaghey said.

Anyone with information on the current whereabouts of Joel Perks is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net
