WEST KELOWNA – The driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run that injured a flagger at a West Kelowna road construction site has contacted the police and is cooperating.

RCMP say the collision between a white Ford commercial pickup truck and the female flagger happened in the 1000 block of Westside Road on Monday, June 11.

Police have said the driver allegedly was the first vehicle in a line-up and insisted on proceeding and threatened the flagger before moving ahead, knocking the stop sign out of her hand, injuring her wrist.

“West Kelowna RCMP would like to hear from any witnesses who observed this incident and in particular would like to review any video footage that was recorded on a dashboard camera,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Lesley Smith says in a media release.

“Independent witnesses are crucial for any traffic related investigation as their information can assist in determining what exactly occurred at the scene,” she says.

Witnesses are asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
