CHASE — Multiple RCMP detachments continue to investigate an armed robbery at an illegal cannabis retailer in downtown Kamloops last week.
Kamloops RCMP responded to the report of an armed robbery on March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Phyven Medicinal Cannabis Dispensary located on Victoria Street. Police say two masked suspects entered the store, one brandishing a knife and one with a long-barrelled firearm.
No one was injured and no shots were fired, police say. The suspects fled the scene with cash and cannabis products and in a pickup truck.
At 3 a.m. on March 9, police located a brown GMC Canyon truck near River Street in Kamloops. The resulting investigation determined the truck was used by the suspect in the robbery, according to a RCMP media release.
"The truck had been previously reported stolen from Chase," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.
Today, March 14, Kamloops RCMP alongside the Chase RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence located on Adams Lake Indian Band Reserve at 12 p.m.
"Violent robberies are taken very seriously and investigators will follow the leads wherever they go," Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay says in the release. "Today the Kamloops Targeted Enforcement Unit, Crime Reduction Unit and general duty investigators worked closely with Chase detachment investigators to take this case to its next step."
Members of Kelowna's Emergency Response Team were also deployed to the area to assist, he says.
The investigation is ongoing and police have no further updates on arrests or criminal charges.
