PENTICTON - A pair of Penticton businesses were targetted by thieves last week.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police were called to Rona on Jan. 3 around 7:30 p.m. after a man attempted to steal a $400 faucet from the home building centre.

A store employee gave chase after the man left the store through an employee entrance, which sounded an alarm. The employee was able to recover the faucet and a bag the man dropped.

Wrigglesworth says the suspect’s wallet and identification were found inside the bag, which also contained drug paraphenia, contrary to a probation order the man was under. A video surveillance tape confirmed the man’s identification and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

At about 11:18 a.m. on Jan. 4, police responded to a call of two men wrestling in the parking lot of London Drugs.

The store’s loss prevention officer had caught a man shoplifting a $240 set of Skull Candy headphones, and when he attempted to arrest the man, he was punched in the face, Wrigglesworth says. Police arrested the man on charges of robbery. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and heroin and was on probation conditions to not possess drugs.

The suspect was arrested and held for a court appearance.
