Raising of UBCO Cross Country banner

KELOWNA, BC - After the women’s volleyball match on Friday night women's cross country team's the national championship banner was raised to the rafters of the UBC Okanagan gym for the team who took top spot in November above all other schools in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Speaking at the ceremony was Director of Athletics and Recreation at UBC Okanagan, Ron Johnson, and Colin Wallace, head coach of the Heat Cross Country team.

Head coach Colin Wallace in just his second year, with first year assistant Mackenzie Wong brought together six runners who were able to blitz the course and the completion on their way to the national championship. The second in school history in women’s cross country. Read More....

Veronika Fagan, recently selected the winner of the BC Athletics Junior Women Cross Country Athlete of the Year Award for 2016, led the way and wound up a championship all-star finishing 4th overall. Camille Galloway led the rest of the Heat women finishing ahead of a wave of UBCO runners including: Josie Storey, Anna Merino, Alex Beswick, and Alea Stockton as they all bunched up and worked together for the win.

Training with team this year pushing the six who attended national were: Sarah Coghlin, Emma Dearden, Jamie Duke, Rachel Garrett, Alexis Gee, Julianna Neudorf, and Rachel Parker.
