Rain in the Okanagan weekend forecast

Morning clouds should burn off for nice summer-like afternoons until Saturday, says Environment Canada. Saturday night a system will move into the Okanagan, bringing clouds, cooler temperatures and the threat of rain.

KELOWNA - The return of late-summer-like weather to the Okanagan this week will be short-lived, as showers and cooler temperatures creep back in to the forecast as the weekend approaches.

Environment Canada meteorologist Matt MacDonald says to expect both sunshine and cloud today, Sept. 27, tomorrow and Saturday, with mainly sunny conditions in the afternoon.

"It's not unusual this time of year to have valley cloud and fog patches in the morning, but they'll burn off and afternoons are expected to be pretty nice," he says.

On Saturday evening, a disturbance from the north is expected to bring cooler air and a 40 per cent threat of showers on Sunday.

Daytime highs will trend downward starting with a high of 21 Celsius today. Friday is expected to be a couple of degrees cooler, with Saturday at 16 C and Sunday at 11 C.

Monday’s weather will be similar to Sunday’s, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high only to 13 C. MacDonald says snow may fall on the high mountain passes Monday evening, Oct.1, which is coincidentally the first day of the season for winter tires on some B.C. highways.

MacDonald says drier conditions should return early next week.
