L'ISLE-VERTE, Qc - A fire destroyed a seniors residence in L'Isle-Verte, Que., and police early Thursday said three people were confirmed dead and 30 missing. Here is a look at some previous fatal fires involving retirement and nursing homes in Canada.
_ In May 2012, a nursing home fire in Hawkesbury, Ont., killed two people.
_ In Oct. 2013, one person died in a fire in London, Ont.
_ In June 2009, a retirement home blaze in Orillia, Ont., killed four people.
_ In April 2012, one person died in Langley, B.C.
_ In August 2012, a retirement home fire in Edmonton killed one person.
_ In August 1980, 21 people died in a nursing home fire in Mississauga, Ont.
_ In December 1976, 22 died in a nursing home fire in Goulds, N.L.
_ In 1969, a nursing home fire in the community of Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Que., claimed 54 lives.
