Provincial special advisor's report on North Okanagan-Shuswap school board delayed

School District 83 board chair Bobbi Johnson.

SALMON ARM – A special advisor's report on the activities of the North Okanagan-Shuswap school board is still being reviewed.

Liz Watson was appointed as a special advisor to review board activities and make recommendations for moving forward in the wake of the recent resignation of three trustees in School District 83. The special advisor was appointed at the request of the North-Okanagan Shuswap school board.

Board chair Bobbi Johnson says in a media release she is disappointed they will be unable to report to the public on the advisor’s recommendations at the final board meeting of the school year on June 14.

Minister of Education Mike Bernier is still reviewing the advisor’s report, the release states.

Three school trustees have resigned and at least one has urged the remaining board members to do the same. A byelection is expected to be held in June to fill the seats.
