An unexpected 3:30 a.m. wakeup call for one downtown Kamloops motel guest on Sunday morning led to the arrest of a 27-year-old prolific offender.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said a man staying at the Columbia Motor Inn awoke to two masked men at his door before they forced their way into the room.

"Nothing is there to indicate they knew the individual," Learned said, adding that the man even advised them they had the wrong room.

Police apprehended two men and one woman in a vehicle about two blocks from the scene after the invasion was reported to RCMP.

One man faces charges of breaking and entering, failing to comply with his probation and multiple charges related to a home invasion on Dec. 29 on Fortune Drive.

Learned said the 27-year-old man is a prolific offender.

The woman walked away without charges, while the other man, 45, faces charges of breaking and entering and wearing a mask.

Learned said there were no injuries.

"The man in the hotel was quite shaken up."
