PENTICTON - The regional district has a program to handle residential recycling. Now it's time to focus on business recyclables.
Plans for an education campaign aimed at reducing recyclable waste from businesses in the regional district are about to get underway.
GreenStep Solutions Inc. will discuss their consultation and business education campaign throughout the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen with Penticton City Councillors at this Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting on April 4.
GreenStep Solutions was recently contracted by the regional district to discuss potential barriers local businesses face when it comes to recycling.
Part of the campaign will also involve free waste audits to find out what materials are ending up in the landfill.
Following consultation with South Okanagan and Similkameen business, GreenStep will offer strategies and potential programs aimed at mitigating waste.
GreenStep will also look at ways business and multi-family units can divert organics from the landfill.
The delegation scheduled to appear before the committee will discuss the process and seek feedback from councillors.
Councillors are also expected to hear from delegations from the Penticton Jazz Festival and the Community Foundations of South Okanagan Similkameen Grant Awards program at the Committee of the Whole meeting.
