Professional motocross riders to bring high-flying action to Penticton

PENTICTON - The sharp jumps, rolling moguls and high octane racing of arenacross is returning to the Peach city.
Arenacross is a variation of motocross racing. The tracks are indoor, short and fast, featuring steep jumps, moguls and banked corners.
The 2016 Canadian National Arenacross Tour is returning to Penticton on Oct. 29 for the second year. Round five of the eight-round professional racing tour will take place at the South Okanagan Events Centre, according to a media release.
Jetwerx International is the promotional and track development company behind the Canadian National Arenacross Tour.
“Last season we had some of the most intense action of the whole tour inside the South Okanagan Events Centre. With more teams and talent competing in 2016 it will be an edge of you seat entertainment for the whole family, “ Justin Thompson of Jetwerx International said in the release.
The series kickstarts in Montreal, Que. on Oct. 1.
There are big stakes on the line, professional riders are competing for a total cash payout of more than $60,000. Amateur riders are competing to win $25,000 in trophies, prizes and awards.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m and range in price from $18 to $36. They are available online, by phone at 1-800-763-2849 or in person at the Valley First Box Office.
