VICTORIA - Premier Christy Clark says a member of the legislature representing a Kelowna riding will become B.C.'s new agriculture minister.
Norm Letnick replaces Pat Pimm, who is battling colon cancer.
Letnick is a former agriculture minister who was bounced by Clark in a previous cabinet shuffle.
Clark says Pimm, who underwent surgery in January, needs to focus on his family and health, while Letnick will immediately begin consulting with the agriculture sector.
The government has recently said it plans to make changes to the decades-old agricultural land reserve policy so farmers have more latitude in development projects.
The Opposition New Democrats say the Liberals are watering down protections of valuable provincial farmland.
