An unlicenced former Kamloops pot shop has been fined $87,000 by the provincial pot police.

The provincial cannabis enforcement agency, the Community Safety Unit, issued an $86,915 to Boomer’s Bud in Kamloops, April 8.

It's not clear for what period of time the fine relates, but the store has previously been fined $65,716 following two raids in July and September of 2019.

According to an April 22 Community Safety Unit administrative monetary penalty notice, Charles McCarthy was selling cannabis without a licence.

The decision says the store that was located at 12 Street, has gone by the names Da Kine Weed Glass and Gifts, Weeds Glass and Gifts, Weeds and Boomer’s Bud.

Following the raids, it appears the store moved to a location on Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc lands.

Provincial law states cannabis stores found to be operating without a licence will be fined twice the retail value of the cannabis in the store.

"There is no evidence of cannabis sold or produced, and therefore the administrative monetary penalty is equal to two times the retail value of the seized cannabis," the decision states.

The decision says the retail value of the cannabis seized was $43,457, which makes the fine $86,915.

No other details were given in the decision and questions to clarify the details were left unanswered by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
