Possible thunderstorms tonight; hot weekend ahead in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Unfortunately, crews battling wildfires in the area won't be getting a lot of needed rain this weekend.

Today, July 20, is a mixed bag of weather in Kamloops with the possibility of rain, thunderstorms and high winds. According to the forecast by Environment Canada, there's a 40 per cent chance of showers this morning with winds gusting to 40 km/h this afternoon. Today's high is 21 Celsius and there's a threat of thunderstorms later tonight.

Smoke seems to have moved along and the air quality in Kamloops has improved immensely. Health Canada predicts the index to stay at 2 or low risk today.

Things calm down a bit tomorrow, with a projected high of 26 C and a mix of sun and cloud. Overnight the temperature drops to 15 C with a 30 per cent chance of rain.

The weekend should be hot and dry with a high of 32 C on Saturday and 35 C on Sunday. Expect temperatures to drop to around 17 C overnight.

The hot and dry weather continues next week with with a high of 33 C on Monday.
