Possible showers returning in time for the weekend in the Okanagan

Okanagan skies will see mostly sunny conditions and summery temperatures until Friday, when things are expected to get cloudy and possibly wet for at least part of the weekend.

The Okanagan could see more rain to start and end this week.

Environment Canada says to expect cloudy skies in Vernon and Kelowna with a 40 per cent chance of showers this morning before partial clearing to a mix of sun and clouds, with a high of 25 Celsius and a low of 12 C under clearing skies this evening.

Penticton should see clearing skies this morning with winds becoming south at 20 km/h this afternoon, with a high of 26 C and a low of 12 C.

An air quality statement has also been issued for the entire Okanagan as smoke is expected to drift into the region from the Eagle Bluff wildfire north of Oliver as well as from wildfires burning in the U.S.

Winds in Vernon and Kelowna are expected to become northwest 20 km/h late this afternoon before becoming light this evening.

Tuesday should see sunny skies with a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon and a high of 27 C.

It could reach 29 C in Penticton.

It should be clear overnight with a low of 14 C.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be sunny with highs of 28 C and 27 C respectively, and overnight lows of 13 C both nights.

Friday should see a possibility of showers at 60 per cent, through Friday, Saturday and Saturday night, with a high of 24 C on Friday and Saturday, along with overnight lows of 14 C.

Sunday is expected to be cloudy with a high of 24 C.

It’s normally 27 C for a high and 12 C for a low in the cities of Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton this time of year.
